TRACE operates an online presale marketplace for clothing. Users list a piece before purchasing it, and other people can "call" that item to rent or buy it next, with each call reducing what the original lister pays. The platform's example describes two people calling an item to rent for a weekend each at roughly a fifth of retail, with both payments going to the lister. The model is presented as a way to access the same wardrobe with a smaller financial commitment.
